SPEAK TO OUR TEAM
All orders are sent fully tracked and 1- 2 days' delivery time is typical. Shortly after dispatch, you will receive an email notification with tracking information. Orders made before 1pm Monday to Saturday are typically dispatched on the same day (excludes Sundays).
**Please note - it is essential to check that the shipping (delivery) address entered at time of purchase is correct. Where an incorrect shipping address has been entered we are unable offer a replacement or refund.
If you need any more help with orders, you can contact our customer services team for help.
All our deliveries are fulfilled via Amazon. If you've recieved a notification that your parcel has been delivered but you can't find it, please first check:
1) Did you put the address correctly on your order?
Please check your order confirmation to confirm you have given your delivery address correctly and get in touch with our customer support team if you haven't
2) Has it been left in a safe space around your property?
The courier may have left the delivery somewhere around your property so please check the outside of your home and garden, in or behind bins or sheds or any safe place they might have left it.
3) Has someone else accepted the delivery?
Please check with all the members of your household to see if they took the package inside, as well as with your nearest neighbours.
If you have checked all these things, please allow 24 hours and then please get in touch with our customer support team.
If your Outsmarted order is lost or arrives damaged, please get in touch with our support team and we will be able to help. If you purchased from another retailer, you must contact them directly about damaged or lost deliveries.
If you wish to return Outsmarted, you have 14 days to inform us of this decision, and 14 days to complete the return. Please note we can't accept opened games or games not returned in the same condition you received them in. To request a return, please get in touch.
Confirmation emails are sent automatically within a few minutes of your order being placed. If you cannot see it, please check your spam folder. Please also check any other email addresses that you have associated with a payment portal - for example if you paid via Paypal please check the email account you use for PayPal, and if you used ApplePay this is commonly associated with your iCloud address. It's very common when buying online that autocomplete might change the email address to the one associated with the payment provider, so please check all your email accounts.
If you can't locate it, the most likely reason is a typo made in your email address when ordering, so please get in touch with our customer service team with your name, address, and the date you ordered and we can ensure your confirmation is resent to the correct email address.
Contact us as soon as possible and we’ll try our very best to change the address on your order. We do aim to get orders out as speedily as possible though, so we might not be able to change your address if the shipping process has already started.
We do not currently sell characters separately. Please check back in February 2025 as we are hoping to make this possible.
No problem, just send our customer support team your order number and licence key and we'll be happy to swap it for a different question category!
E-Gift Cards
You can purchase an Outsmarted E-Gift Card via the website in various denimonations and then simply email it to your recipient. To purchase, click here.
I want a physical Gift Card
While we don't currently sell physical gift vouchers through Outsmarted, you can purchase a range of gift cards for question multipacks from Amazon. These are suitable for recipients who already own the game and the multipacks are add-on question packs. To visit the Outsmarted store, click here. These gift cards are a physical product which will be delivered from Amazon. The redeem code required to activate your purchase is on a scratch-off panel on the card. These are perfect for purchasing multipacks as gifts, as they are a physical product that you can give to someone.
I purchased a bundle as a gift
If you purchased Outsmarted as a gift, you might have purchased a "bundle" (meaning the game plus question multipacks). If so, you will get the physical box delivered but the redeem code / codes required to activate the additional question categories are sent to you via email. You will need to give this code / codes to the recipient so they can activate the additional question categories. You can simply forward them the email, or, if you prefer, you can print off a voucher here and simply write the redeem code / codes on it and pop it in the box with your gift!
Prices in the app vary with exchange rates, and different costs apply for merchant transactions via different platforms. Therefore prices in the App store or Google Play will generally not match the website prices. Please check both before purchasing to ensure you are getting the best available price for your purchase. We cannot offer refunds for purchases made due to price fluctuations between the app and website as these are an everyday occurence.
If you were sent a special offer via email, please check the details of the offer. Discount codes and special offers are always for specific websites, specific products and specific dates, so please ensure that you have noted the instructions given on the offer.
If you are still experiencing difficulty, please contact our support team for help.
Sorry, but no. All our special offers are only available for the time shown on the offer details.
A "bundle" is the Outsmarted game, purchased with question multipacks included. There are various bundles available for purchase on the Outsmarted website. Buying in a "bundle" offers great savings from purchasing the elements separately!
When you purchase a bundle, the physical box is no different from the standard game. However, question multipacks are included with your purchase. These multipacks are a digital product to go alongside the physical product of the game board. You need to activate the multipacks in your game to use them. You can download instructions to do that here. If you didn't recieve your redeem code by email, please contact our support team and we can provide it!

The license key is a 16-digit number included in the game box (this may be an alphanumeric string for older versions of the game), which you use to register your copy of Outsmarted to unlock the app and all its features. Without your license key, the Outsmarted app will be locked, only allowing you to enter a join-game code to join someone else’s game.
Please ensure you are using the 16-digit license key included in your game box. Please ensure you are typing it in correctly, or if easier you may copy and paste it into the app. If this does not solve your issue, please get in touch with our support team for assistance.
Please contact our support team and they will assist you with recovering it! To recover it, you will need to know the email address you registered with. Please be aware that we cannot issue replacement license keys – you must find the email address used to register the app.
Yes!
You can register the Outsmarted app on up to three personal devices, so if you get a new phone, you can simply install the app on it and register it using the same license key.
But my license key doesn't work!
The most likely reason is that some ink has rubbed off the card! Contact us for help getting the correct code.
But will I lose all my question categories or progress?
No, this all remains the same!
What happens if I register the app on more than three devices?
Should you get to the point where you are registering the app on a fourth device, a warning message will be displayed and, if you continue with the registration, all other devices will be asked to re-register the next time they start the app. That maintains the maximum devices registered on one license key at three.
When you buy a bundle, multipack or question category from our website, we’ll email you a redeem code which is used to activate your new content in the app. Redeem codes are not needed for question categories bought inside the app itself, as these activate automatically.
When you make your purchase from our website, you’ll receive an email with your redeem code or codes.
To activate, open the Outsmarted app and start a new game. Step 3 in your pre-game set-up is the “SELECT YOUR SIX CATEGORIES” screen. Once here, enter your redeem code in the redeem code box on the top right of the screen, and select the "REDEEM" button. That’s it - your new question pack is now unlocked and ready to use.
To download a full guide, click here.
If you ordered from our website and didn’t get your redeem code, please check your spam folder. If you can’t find the email, please contact our support team for assistance. If you purchased a question category inside the app, you won’t receive a redeem code, as the pack will be activated automatically.
This is almost always due to a typing error. Sometimes it is hard to distinguish characters sent by email, so please copy the code from your email and paste it into the app. If this doesn't work, please get in touch with our support team and we will be able to help!
If you have a smart TV
1) Make sure your iOS device (iPhone or iPad) is connected to the same wifi network as your TV
2) On your iPhone or iPad, swipe down from the top right corner of your screen to access your control centre. Tap "screen Mirroring" and select your TV or casting device (e.g. LG TV, Roku stick, or Chromecast) from the list.
If that didn’t work / you don’t have a smart TV.
If you have an Apple TV box you can cast from your iOS device to your TV, even if it’s not a Smart TV
If you don’t have an Apple TV box you can still connect your iOS device to your TV manually with an HDMI cable. Depending on the make and model of your TV, you’ll likely require a Type A HDMI cable, along with the right adaptor to connect to your Apple device.
*Some iOS devices will not cast/mirror to a TV without an app from the AppStore if you do not have a smart TV. generally, those apps are free to use without sound, but you must pay to get sound.
If you have a smart TV
1) Make sure your Android device is connected to the same wifi network as your TV.
2) On most Android devices you simply go to "Settings > Connected devices > Cast screen" and select your TV or casting device from the list (e.g. LG TV, Roku stick, or Chromecast). However, it varies by device, so please search online for relevant instructions.
If that didn’t work / you don’t have a smart TV
Don’t worry, you can still connect to your TV. Just pick up a third-party casting device, like Chromecast or Roku – which can be purchased online for as little as £10. Alternatively, you can connect to your TV manually using an HDMI cable. While a wired setup isn't as convenient as casting, it's very straightforward and reliable. Depending on the make and model of your TV, you’ll likely require a Type A HDMI cable, along with an adaptor to connect it to your device.
If you have a smart TV
1) Make sure your Windows 10 or 11 device is connected to the same wifi network as your TV.
2) Go to ‘System > Display’ on your device and select "Connect to a Wireless Display’"
3) Next, select your TV or casting device from the list (e.g. LG TV, Roku stick, or Chromecast). If you cannot see your smart TV (or casting device) listed in the available options, it’s likely that the devices are incompatible.
If you’re using an Amazon Firestick and want to mirror your device’s screen to your TV, follow these simple steps. This is a great way to enjoy apps like Outsmarted on the big screen!
Step 1: Set Up Your Firestick for Mirroring
-
Turn on Your Firestick and TV:Ensure your Firestick is plugged in and your TV is set to the correct HDMI input.
-
Access the Firestick Settings:
- Press the Home button on your Firestick remote remote
- Select Settings (gear icon) on the top menu bar.
-
Enable Display Mirroring:
- Navigate to Display & Sounds > Enable Display Mirroring.
- A screen will appear saying "Enable Display Mirroring." Leave this screen open—it’s now ready to connect with your device.
Once mirroring is enabled on your Firestick, you can access it anytime by simply holding down the home button for three seconds!
Step 2: Enable Mirroring on Your Device
For Android Phones/Tablets:
- Open Settings: Go to Settings on your Android device.
- Find the Screen Casting Option:
- Look for Cast, Screen Mirroring, or Smart View (names may vary depending on the device).
- Alternatively, swipe down to open the Quick Settings menu and tap the Cast or Screen Mirroring icon.
- Select Your Firestick: Your Firestick should appear in the list of available devices. Tap on it to connect.
For iPhones/iPads:
- Check Compatibility: Firestick doesn’t natively support AirPlay, so you’ll need to download an app like AirScreen from the Amazon App Store on your Firestick.
- Open AirScreen: Once downloaded, open AirScreen on your Firestick and follow the on-screen instructions to enable AirPlay.
- Start Mirroring: Open the Control Center on your iPhone/iPad and tap Screen Mirroring. Select your Firestick from the list of available devices.
Once connected, your device’s screen will appear on your TV. Open the Outsmarted app and it will be mirrored to your TV.
Troubleshooting Tips
- Both Devices Must Be on the Same Wi-Fi Network: Ensure your Firestick and device are connected to the same Wi-Fi.
- Restart Devices: If mirroring doesn’t work, restart both your Firestick and your device.
- Update Software: Check that your Firestick and device have the latest software updates installed.
- Try a Third-Party App: For enhanced compatibility, apps like ApowerMirror or AirBeamTV may work well.

STEP 2
Download the Outsmarted app
STEP 3
Register using the licence key found in your Outsmarted game box and complete the registration form to unlock the host.

You can also watch a video on how to register the app here!
Once you register the Outsmarted app, you will have instant access to the ten "core categories": TV, Film & Books, Breaking News, Quick Thinking, Back to School, Sound & Music, Pub Quiz, Sports & Leisure, Random, Lifestyle & Culture, Science & Nature, and History & Geography.
These categories are the heart and soul of the game! Packed with over 10,000 interactive, multimedia questions covering a spectrum of topics for all ages, there's something here for everyone. These categories contain four to five times the number of questions typically included in a traditional trivia game, ensuring many hours of fun. These core categories are also updated regularly, with Breaking News updated every week!
Outsmarted is also infinitely expandable! You'll find a vast library of expansion packs containing 100–200 questions available for purchase from the website or in-app. We always include 3 or 4 of these as a bonus, but these are rotated periodically, so you don't permanently "own" them unless you have purchased them.
No!
One of the best bits about Outsmarted is that along with the thousands of questions included with the ten "core categories", it can also be expanded or personalised!
You have the option to boost your gaming fun with up to 80 additional question categories in our question store which you can purchase from the website or in the app!
These add-on categories include 100-200 questions each typically and the store includes something for everyone, from Harry Potter to 80s Hits, meaning you can customise your trivia fun to match your passions and keep your game nights ever evolving!
However, purchasing these is optional!
We have six core categories, with 10,000+ interactive, multimedia questions: TV, Films & Books, Quick Thinking, Pub Quiz, Back to School, Breaking News, Sound & Music, Sports & Leisure, Science & Nature, History & Geography, Random and Lifestyle & Culture. All these are suitable for adults, teens and junior players and cover a very broad range of topics from sports to trivia to puzzles and much, much more!
The Breaking News category is hot off the press every Friday, so you can keep your finger on the pulse of world events! The other core categories are updated regularly. However, add-on packs are for limited use and contain 100 - 200 questions as stated on the website description. Once they are completed, they are completed and you have to wait for the sequel!
You can buy any – or all – of our additional packs on the Outsmarted website or directly through the app. You can also buy multipacks of categories, for example Movies & TV, which give you a 50% saving off buying the packs individually. Multipacks are only available on the website.
Multipacks are question categories sold together as part of a theme, for example the Family Challenge Multipack or Movies and TV, which give you a 50% saving off buying the packs individually. Multipacks are only available on the website.
Outsmarted comes with a question set for each of the following individual countries:
- United Kingdom
- United States
- Canada (English only)
- Australia
- New Zealand
- Germany
- France
- The Netherlands
- Italy
- Spain
Each region has questions in the local language, and the set of questions themselves are different for each country. For example, if you’re playing with Germany set as your region, you’ll receive questions specific to German culture, TV, music, sports etc, along with global trivia questions.
You can change your region in the Outsmarted app at any time to play with that local question set, and you don’t need to pay extra to access any country's collection of questions.
However, please only purchase question packs from your own country’s website as the packs might not be suitable for every region and may not work in your region unless you purchased from the correct website. You can choose your correct regional website here.
Every copy of Outsmarted includes:
- the game box
- the game board
- dice
- six hand-painted 3D genius miniature figurines
- the Outsmarted tablet stand
- your licence key - unique to each game owner.
Once you download and install the Outsmarted app, you’ll be able to access the 6,500+ interactive, multimedia questions pre-activated in the six core question categories. We have thousands of additional questions available across a wide range of add-on packs!
Each game can have 2-6 players or teams. Teams can have up to 4 players, meaning you can have 24 players in total – more than on a football pitch!
Up to you! Most games are between about 30 minutes to two hours, but you can opt for a time-limited game when you’re setting the game up. Need a cuppa (or a breather) in the middle of a game? You can pause Outsmarted…just like Netflix.
It sure is - this is one of the most important aspects of the game to us! Outsmarted has thousands of junior-level questions covering topics that kids love – why not challenge the kids to a quiz on Harry Potter, Disney V Pixar, or Animal Kingdom?
Across all our packs, we tailor the question language, question topic, and question difficulty to each of our three age ranges - juniors (8+), teens, and adults. Just set the age range for each player at the start of the game - our app then automatically adjusts question difficulty to ensure a level playing field!
(Please note not all categories are written for juniors, so please check the pack description before purchasing.)
You can do this via the website, where you'll find a box at the bottom of page saying "Sign up for game updates & offers." Our mailing list is an awesome source of news, discounts, special offers, updates and information so we recommend all players remain on the list so they don't miss out! However, you can unsubscribe at any time by clicking the "unsubscribe" link at the bottom of any one of our emails!
Outsmarted requires:
- an internet connection
- iOS 14 or greater, Android 9 or greater or Windows 10 or greater
- a minimum of 3GB of available RAM (4GB recommended).
Outsmarted is not compatible with Fire tablets. Sorry, we can't provide support for MAC devices or Chromebooks.
Only one main device is required to play. You can then connect up to six additional devices as handheld quiz controllers, for individual players and teams to use.
The "host device" is the central command station for your gaming adventure! This is the device on which you need to register the app using the licence key. You can designate a laptop, phone, or tablet as your host device. Just remember, during the game, this device is dedicated solely to leading you through the twists and turns of Outsmarted—so no sneaky text checking or this might disrupt gameplay! If you think you might need your phone during play, we recommend using a different device as your host.
Only the host device needs to be registered using the licence key. The “host device” is the device you use to start the game. Outsmarted can be registered on up to three personal devices - however, only the host device needs to be registered using the licence key. Whilst you might have reasons for wanting to register the game on more than one device, you should never play with more than one registered device in the same game as this may cause errors in the game.
So what device should I choose as the host?
This is up to you! However, we recommend it's best to use a device you will not use at the same time as playing Outsmarted (for example, sending texts), as this might cause Outsmarted to become unstable. If you receive a lot of notifications to your phone, it might be best to choose another device (such as a tablet or laptop) as the host device - you may still use your phone as a handheld game controller using the join-game code, but you don't need to register the app on it using the licence key.
If you have a new phone or tablet, you can simply install and register the app on the new device. You may register Outsmarted on up to three personal devices: however, we strongly reccommend that you do not use two devices in the same game if they are both registered with the licence key.
So what should I do to remove one of my devices as a registered device?
This process isn't achieved by simply uninstalling and reinstalling. To remove the device as a registered device follow the steps below (select the instructions based on your device).
To succeed, it is crucial that you perform EVERY STEP here:
Android
1. Close the Outsmarted app.
2. Go to Settings then Apps.
3. Find Outsmarted in the list of apps and tap on it.
4. Look for the button called Storage and tap on it.
5. You will see you have the option of Clear Data and Clear Cache.
6. Tap each of them in turn.
7. Uninstall Outsmarted.
8. Restart your device.
9. Download and install Outsmarted.
10. Start Outsmarted. You will be asked to register again.
11. Register your device then continue to play.
iOS - iPad or iPhone
1. Uninstall Outsmarted.
2. Power off your device.
3. Power on your device.
4. Download and install Outsmarted.
This will only work if you power OFF then power ON. You can now install the app on your device again, but this time DO NOT register it using the licence key. You can now simply use it as a game controller in your game by means of the join-game code the host device provides.
No!
One of the perks of Outsmarted is the flexibility it offers. Fancy using your own device as a game controller? Go for it! Or, if you prefer a more traditional vibe, appoint a "quizmaster" to handle all the answer inputs.
Just make sure everyone has a clear view of the screen! Our top tip for the best group experience? Gather around a "big screen." You can use a tablet (we include a handy stand), laptop, or - best of all - connect the app up to your TV! Download a guide to connect the app to your TV here.
Yes!
Outsmarted can be registered on up to three personal devices. However, remember NOT to try and register the app on multiple devices if you plan to use them in the same game! Only one registered device should be part of any one game. You may play with up to 6 additional devices in the same game, but the app does not need to be registered on any device but the host! We strongly recommend registering the app on only one device unless you have a clear reason to do so (such as getting a new phone or tablet).
Yes - Outsmarted is the world's first board game with remote play capabilities, allowing friends and family to join the game from anywhere! You will find a step-by-step guide to use remote play in the game instructions which you can download here or view in the app by tapping the book icon.
No, only the game hosts needs to own a copy of Outsmarted. To join as a remote player, you only need to download and install the free app here.
You can watch a step-by-step guide to Remote Play here or alternatively read the instructions below!
For the host (registered game owner)
STEP 1: Ensure all players have downloaded and installed the app. If you would like to use the talk function during the game, all players should enable microphone access in their device permissions
STEP 2: The host (registered game owner) must add any player and team profiles for those joining the game remotely as well as other players
STEP 3: The host must then select six categories for the game and then move on to the waiting area, where a Join Game Code will be shown.
STEP 4: Share the code with all joining players / teams for them to join on their own device.
STEP 5: Wait until all players have joined. Now you can begin the game!
For joining and remote players
STEP 1: Ensure you have downloaded and installed the app. If you would like to use the talk function during the game, please enable microphone access in your device permissions
STEP 2: The host will then send you a join game code
STEP 3: Input the code in the box provided and you are ready to go!
No, the host must select the region, and only one region can be played at a time, as the question sets are separate. If you are playing with friends or family abroad, you should agree on a region that is most suitable for everyone. We recommend avoiding question categories that are likely to have a lot of local content. For example, Breaking News, On The Box, and Pub Quiz are tailored to the local audience. Other categories, however, are much more global in nature, such as Quick Thinking, 80s Movies, or History & Geography.
Although Outsmarted is a board game, there's also a "virtual board" available on screen. This feature is for remote players and can also be used by anyone who prefers not to use the physical board. It's especially handy if you're on vacation or playing at a friend's house!
Outsmarted is, at its core, a board game, and the app can't be activated without purchasing the game and using the license key from the box. But here's the fun part: once you’ve got the game, you can leave the board behind if you want—perfect for holidays or road trips! Just pick the virtual board option, and you're good to go, anytime, anywhere!
You'll find instructions below, or you can watch the handy video guide here.
STEP 1: On your turn you must select the virtual board on the right-hand side of the screen.
STEP 2: Roll the virtual dice, and the legal spaces you can move to based on your roll will light up. You will not be able to select a space which isn’t highlighted as a legal move matching your dice roll.
STEP 3: Once you have selected the space you want to move to, the question category that corresponds will become available to select on the right-hand side. Once you click this, your question will appear on the next screen.
**IMPORTANT NOTE FOR THE HOST!**
To use the virtual board, you must use it on ALL your questions. That requires you to select the virtual board each time it’s your turn. If you mix using the physical board with virtual board then the app will not know where you are on the board and as a result the virtual board will not work correctly for the remainder of the game.
If the virtual board feels a little small on your device, it’s simply because it's scaled to your screen size! Want it to appear larger? All you need is a bigger screen! Outsmarted works on phones, laptops, and tablets—so if your phone’s screen feels a bit tight, try switching to a tablet or laptop and the board will scale to the larger screen size.
If you’re playing Outsmarted with junior players (8-12 years), you may notice some of the question categories are greyed out and not selectable. This means that these particular categories do not contain junior-level questions and cannot be used in a game which includes junior players.
This will be because your device is muted. In your browser, search for "unmute my xxx", substituting your device type and model number for “xxx”. Please be aware that even if your device is playing sounds through other apps such as YouTube, this fix will work – the Outsmarted app does not play sounds via the same mechanism as these apps!
One of the following will be the problem:
- One of the devices in the game doesn’t have the latest version of the app - please download the latest version of the app on every device.
- The join-game code is being mistyped by a joining player – make sure to use capitals and lower case exactly as displayed.
- The device which started the game (the host) is not waiting for the other players to join. The host must wait at the stage where the players appear behind their podiums, and until all joining players have a tick against their podium.
Voice chat should always be live unless you choose to mute yourself. Remote players can mute and unmute anytime during gameplay while connected with others. If your voice chat isn’t working, double-check that the app has permission to use your microphone. Here’s a quick fix:
ON ANDROID: Head to settings > apps > outsmarted > permissions > microphone and switch it to 'allow'.ON APPLE DEVICES: Go to settings > privacy & security > outsmarted, then toggle on microphone access.
Easy as that, and you’re back in the game!
The most likely reason for this is an internet issue. You may have very fast internet speeds and still experience problems for a wide variety of reasons. We recommend completing a speed test online to establish the speed of your connection, as well as other diagnostics.
To test if the internet connection is causing the issue, we recommend that you temporarily turn wifi OFF on your device, then try the app again. Does the app work properly now? With wifi OFF, your device is forced to use the cell network for internet access. This test will confirm or disprove whether you have an issue with your wifi.
If this does not solve your problem, contact our support team for more help.
Outsmarted is a very stable app. If you are experiencing glitches or crashes or similar problems, there are a few possible reasons and figuring out which is a process of elimination.
1) There is a problem with your connection to the internet
Outsmarted requires a stable internet connection to function properly. Make sure you have a strong Wi-Fi or mobile internet signal. However, even with a fast and reliable connection, issues can still arise due to security settings on your router.
Common Indicators of Router-Related Issues:
- The app freezes or becomes unresponsive.
- The "Join Game" code does not appear.
- Players fail to show up on the podium.
If you experience these issues, it's likely your router's settings are interfering with the Outsmarted app. To rule this out, you can temporarily bypass your Wi-Fi connection:
- On a Phone: Switch to mobile data (4G/5G) instead of Wi-Fi.
- On a Laptop or Tablet: Create a temporary hotspot using your phone's mobile data and connect your device to it.
If the app works just fine when it is not connected to your Wi-Fi, the problem is confirmed to be with your router's settings.
How to Adjust Router Settings
To resolve this issue, you'll need to access your router settings. Instructions for accessing these settings vary by provider, so it’s helpful to search online for guidance specific to your router model. Once inside the settings, check for the following:
- Security Level Slider: Lower the security level from "High" to "Medium."
- App or Multiplayer Game Blocker: Disable this feature or add Outsmarted as an approved app.
- Child Filter/Parental Controls: These must be turned off to play Outsmarted.
Specific Instructions for Sky Broadband Users
Sky Broadband includes a feature called Sky Broadband Shield, which is enabled by default when you set up your service. The Shield is designed to filter content and block certain apps or websites.
To adjust Sky Broadband Shield:
- Log in to your Sky account.
- Navigate to the Broadband Shield section.
- Look under Online Gaming and untick the box
By following these steps, you can resolve router-related issues and enjoy a seamless experience with Outsmarted! If you continue to experience difficulties, feel free to contact our support team for further assistance.
2) You are playing Outsmarted from a school or college router
School routers typically block any app not explicitly approved for student use. You can either ask your IT helper to enable these ports: UDP protocol ports 5058, 5055, and 5056, or you may create a tethered hotspot using your phone. The temporary hotspot you create can be used for the game host device to connect to and play without being inhibited.
3) You are using the device for other things at the same time as playing Outsmarted
You should not flick between windows when playing Outsmarted. Using your device for other things, such as sending texts, might cause Outsmarted to become unstable. If this is causing an issue for you, you may wish to use another device as the host so you can continue using your phone whilst playing. Remember, Outsmarted can be registered on up to 3 devices so if you need to change the host to a different device, simply register the app on the new device using your license key. A laptop or tablet is a good alternative if you are experiencing glitches whilst using your phone as the host device due to other apps being open.
Whilst you can register Outsmarted on up to 3 devices, we do not recommend playing with more than one registered device in the same game. So, if you register the app on a second or third device please either do not use them in the same game, or fully remove the registration from the previous device as follows – it is CRUCIAL you perform every step:
Android
9. Download and install Outsmarted but this time DO NOT REGISTER IT
You may now join the game as a joining player but your device will no longer be registered as the host.
iOS - iPad or iPhone
1. Uninstall Outsmarted.
2. Power off your device.
3. Power on your device.
4. Download and install Outsmarted but this time DO NOT REGISTER IT
You may now join the game as a joining player but your device will no longer be registered as the host.
4) Your device does not meet the requirements to run Outsmarted
Outsmarted can run on most iOS, Android and Windows operating systems. Outsmarted requires an internet connection, iOS 14 or greater, Android 9 or greater, Windows 10 or greater and a minimum of 3GB of available RAM (4GB recommended). Outsmarted is not compatible with Fire tablets. We do not provide support for MAC devices or Chromebooks. It is also possible that your device meets these requirements but is struggling to run the app for other reasons (for example the memory is too full or you have some other issue going on). We recommend trying a different device to test this. If changing the host device please use the instructions provided in point 3 above.
5) The Outsmarted app has become corrupt for some reason on your device(s).
To resolve this, you need to completely remove the app from your device using these instructions.
With this advice almost all problems with Outsmarted will be resolved, but if you continue to experience an issue please contact support@outsmarted.com for more help.
If you are experiencing repeat questions, the most likely reason is that you are playing with a question pack that is completed.
Question packs – what to expect
Outsmarted’s core categories contain a total of more than 10,000 questions, so you'll get a lot of hours of play before you complete these core categories.
Add-on question categories
The additional question categories available for purchase from the app store or the website contain (this can vary) 100 - 200 questions which may be split over different age ranges. Once they are complete, if you continue to play them, you will get repeat questions as there are no new questions left in that pack.
If this advice doesn't solve your problem, another cause is that you are playing with two registered devices in the same game. Please ensure you only play with ONE registered device in any single game.
For more help, please speak to our support team. We can run diagnostics remotely to see what is going on in your game and can help advise you on the steps needed to resolve it.
Don't worry, if one of the players loses connection for any reason, they should go back into the app and it will automatically reconnect.
The Outsmarted app is very stable, but when you're playing across multiple devices and different internet connections, it is possible for lags or glitches to occur. To keep things running smoothly, make sure to follow these tips:
- Make sure every player is on a stable internet connection (they may connect using 4G or 5G if this is more stable).
- Make sure every player’s device meets Outsmarted’s minimum requirements and if they're experiencing issues, they should try using a different device.
- Do not use your device for anything else during gameplay (for example checking text messages)
If you’re running into glitches during remote play, we recommend first testing your internet connection by temporarily playing over 4G or 5G to see if momentary lags on your connection are causing the problem. If that doesn’t resolve the issue, try switching to another device, like your laptop, since it’s most likely an issue with your (or the hosts) internet connection or device is causing the problem.
If the problem persists, don’t hesitate to reach out to our support team at support@outsmarted.com for further assistance!
The most likely cause for this is that you have Outsmarted open multiple times, particularly if you are on a Windows laptop. Make sure all other windows are closed completely and tehn restart the app to make sure it's only open once.
